EXPO RIVA HOTEL: the fair that drives and anticipates changes

Sunday, February 3, 2019

The portrait of a constantly evolving sector has emerged from the opening talk of the 43rd edition of Expo Riva Hotel on the occasion of this morning’s opening talk. The fair dedicated to hospitality and catering is scheduled until Wednesday, February 6th at the Fairgrounds of Riva del Garda.

The General Manager of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, Giovanni Laezza has opened the talk stressing how the strength of Expo Riva Hotel is its innate ability to adapt to the needs of the three main entrepreneurial categories of the hospitality sector.

In particular, the greater strength of hoteliers has been underlined, as opposed to the great changes experienced by the world of catering and restaurants as a whole. The operators in the sector are provided with a fair that never fails to keep up with the times.

But what are those great changes brought about by? The answer came directly from Mauro Santinato, president of Teamwork Rimini who has analyzed the five generations of hotels that characterized the 20th century by taking different cultural, social, environmental, psychological, economic and political aspects into account. "The very first years, characterized by a general standardization, saw the great brands of hospitality replicating pre-established models. Nobler materials such as stucco, marble, brass and gold provided the added value. Thanks to more demanding, informed and selective customers, such tendency has been currently replaced by a strong urge for uniqueness”.

Another distinguished representative of Teamwork Rimini, Nicola Delvecchio, spoke in greater detail about the different needs, tastes and expectations of modern customers.

"The always-connected customer is now accustomed not to divide his/her time between work and leisure, is environmentally aware and concerned about his/her own well-being. Such framework led to the development of new models of hospitality where the extraordinary is ordinarily experienced”.

A great example of extra-ordinary hospitality has undoubtedly been provided by the case history of architect Giovanni Franceschelli from Rizoma Architetture, who has been working in the Netherlands on a Student Hotel whose creative identity is absolutely unconventional. "A students’ residence as well as a coworking space where personality combined with local features has generated an innovative concept that, thanks to the intimacy and sense of belonging that the informal environment has generated is now also a successful laboratory of parallel brands”.

The case presented by Architect Thomas Miorin of Rebuild Italia, who provided the example of Ikea's hospitality proposal to stress how the rapidly-changing new habits of modern customers can be easily interpreted by building 4.0, has also proven strongly oriented towards the future and innovative.

"Built within factories and assembled directly on site, the hotels of the future can be assembled and disassembled just as pieces of furniture being more time and cost-efficient while ensuring quality and customization – real strategic advantages in the current scenario".

The conclusion of the opening talk of the 43rd Expo Riva Hotel and the official opening of the fair was entrusted to the host the President of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi Roberto Pellegrini and the provincial councilor Roberto Failoni who, in addition to highlighting the natural inclination of the fair to drive and anticipate changes in the hospitality and catering world, underlined the interest of Trentino to keep up with the evolutions by providing solutions to support those operators who wish to keep up with the hospitality of tomorrow through events such as Expo Riva Hotel.

Expo Riva Hotel, the most comprehensive trade fair of all times returns until Wednesday, February 6th at the Riva del Garda Exhibition Center with a busy schedule. Just to name a few: the finals of the Giropizza 2018 contest organized by the Italian Pizza & Pasta Association, the award of the winners of the technical competition dedicated to the visual identity of craft beers (Best Label) and the exclusive masterclass led by Rivo Gin within RPM - Riva Pianeta Mixology, the area dedicated to mixed drinking.
