HOLISTIC VISION AND WELL-BEING FOR THE HOSPITALITY OF THE FUTURE

Business opportunities and quality content was abundant during the four days on the digital platform of the event. Hospitality confirms its role as a Ho.Re.Ca. reference point with over 100,000 views and more than 3,000 operators from all over Italy registered. Likewise, there was great interest from the various institutions, including the presence of the Under-Secretary of MiBACT, Lorenza Bonaccorsi, the Chairman of ENIT, Giorgio Palmucci and the Rt. Honourable Maria Chiara Gadda.

Riva del Garda (TN), 5th February 2021 – Wide participation at Hospitality Digital Space, the special edition of the Hospitality trade fair, the leading Italian exhibition for the hospitality and catering industry. Over the four days, the platform dedicated to workers in the Ho.Re.Ca. sector recorded over 100,000 views and 3,000 registered operators from all over Italy, thanks to an unprecedented format and a broad range of specialist content.

“We have created a real virtual hub, to share ideas and experiences and to launch ourselves – together with the hospitality professionals - into the future of a sector which, up until 2020, was worth 13% of the national GDP, making it an indispensable driving force for the economy of our country.  We would like to thank all those participants who chose Hospitality Digital Space as the reference point for the world of Ho.Re.Ca., giving life to a workshop of ideas and trends which focused on the quality of content and messages to offer concrete tools to reinvent itself and face the challenges of the future,”stated Roberto Pellegrini, Chairman of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi

Over 120 testimonials and opinion leader from the hospitality industry contributed to the success of the four days of live streaming, taking urns to appear in the two virtual rooms - Live Space and the Academy Lab, delving into the latest issues regarding food & beverage, design and technology, to re-adapt their business models to the needs of a new normal, not only different but better.

Alessandra Albarelli, Managing Director of Riva del Garda Fierecongressi, who moderated various talks on the Live Space stage, underlined that what emerged from this special edition was that “the human being will be the fulcrum of the hospitality of the future, both as a professional operator who must know how to deal with the market, and as a customer, at the core of a concept of well-being that touches sustainability, hospitality and the local area.”

Technological evolution and the acceleration of digital acceptance, as well as a new way to use space and a new type of consumer. “Our speakers highlighted how the combination of these forces will bring about a new mindset,” - added Giovanna Voltolini, Exhibition Manager of Hospitality, the Ho.Re.Ca. trade fair. At Hospitality Digital Space we traced the future of the sector, which is seeing an increasing attention towards a holistic vision of the tourist offer, capable of putting together a multiplicity of elements such as the style of a local area, guest care and food culture, favouring of a close relationship between physical space and well-being.”

One of the speakers at Hospitality Digital Space, Alberto Mattiello,  expert in innovation technology and business also explained that “this past year has made us all a bit like start-ups.” In the hospitality and catering world of the future, the results of this necessary innovative drive will be evident, with different spaces, packages and users. To meet the new and changed expectations of consumers, when we are able to travel again, it will not be enough just to be efficient, but we will need to build new experiential models, such as an offer dedicated to smart working.

Amongst the topics discussed was also the new ethical concept for catering and the importance of communicating the centrality of food for health and well-being. As pointed out by Carlo Petrini, Chairman of Slow Food, we need to promote environmental sustainability, respect productive biodiversity and incentivise local production, strengthening the local economy to meet the growing demands from customers.

Numerous talks and concrete examples illustrated how the catering sector is linked to the economic, environmental and social sustainability of products and distribution chains.  The Rt. Honourable Maria Chiara Gadda, promoter of decree 166/2016 against food waste, focused on this issue, stressing the importance of aiming to build a circular food economy.

Alongside the content element, particular attention was also paid to companies, the soul of the event in its physical dimension. Thanks to the Expo Area, where virtual shop windows provided the chance for networking between exhibitors and visitors, numerous business opportunities were also generated.  The Future Trends channel offered businesses the chance to give talks and product and service presentations pertaining to the world of hospitality.

Registration on the Hospitality Digital Space will remain open until 30th November, and until then it will be possible to enjoy the content on demand and listen again to the various talks offered over the four days.

The dates for the 46th edition of Hospitality – the Ho.Re.Ca. trade fair are from 31st January to 3rd February 2022 in Riva del Garda.
